In this day and age where eating healthy has become so important.
So many people do not like to eat fruit and vegetables.
Even though they know it is good for them, they still prefer not to eat it.

Try to keep the sugar intake low by making your own.

‘There are some products that just change your life. I wanted to get in on the smoothie thing, and there simply is no other way to do it than with a blender, and no better blender to do it with.
The blender is mostly plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap. It is very secure. It locks onto the base with a satisfying click. The lid locks down with a similar click. Unless you have heard both clicks, the blender won’t start. And good thing. The blades are very sharp. They are angled to create a vortex that instantly turns any fruits and vegetables inside into viscous liquid.
I like that the spout has a lid that locks open so you can pour easily. The blades come out so that they can be cleaned easily, along with the inside of the decanter. I saw that another buyer was cut when the blades “flew out” during cleaning. I have looked carefully and my blade assembly does not appear to be capable of flight or even mild levitation. Nonetheless I lift it out carefully, and if I am going to use the blender again I just rinse the blades; if I want the blades completely clean I use the dishwasher and not my hands.
It has been a long time since I used a blender. I stopped because they sucked. Old blenders leaked out the bottom. They were hard to clean. They had a ton of different buttons for blending speed with labels that required a thesaurus next to the cookbook. And however I parsed the gradations of perturbation between “emulsify” and “macerate”, they didn’t actually blend. What was at the bottom of the blender became angry and confused while whatever was in the top two thirds of the decanter remained beatifically serene. This blender has high, medium, and low settings. You can pulse. It is loud, which I take to be a feature and not a drawback. Even more than my espresso machine, this blender is extremely effective at ending unwanted conversations. For particularly persistent interlocutors, use the pulse setting.

‘I have gone through so many lidded cups with straws over the last year, that I decided to find a good, sturdy, reliable one that wouldn’t break every time I screwed on the lid or sweated so profusely that I had to use a coaster. I found this one and decided to get it. A little more expensive, but I had already gone through 6 of the other ones, what the heck, I’ll get it. I am very impressed! The 2 lids (one for sippin’ and one for slurpin’ are very heavy duty, and even though my cup fell a couple of times, the lid never fell off and I only had a minimal leak out the very top. I used to have to add ice to the old cups every hour because it would melt (not insulated). Now, I only have to add ice maybe every 4 or 5 hours! Major thumbs-up on that one! Try to play with the flavors.
You can add whatever you like. If you do not try it, how will you know if you like it or not?.
My husband and I played around with some flavors the past weekend and I can tell you, it tasted great.
You can get recipe books for how to make smoothies, but as I said, make it up as you go along.
First we tried mixing banana, strawberries, kiwi fruit, grapes and plain yoghurt. It tasted LOVELY.
This is not a sweet combination, so if you have a sweet tooth, maybe you should try our second recipe.
The next one we tried, we used a mango, banana, yellow melon and yoghurt.
This was ‘n sweeter option, but the banana was a little strong.
Maybe you should try to use only halve a banana or replace it with some other fruit.
We thought that next time we will try to replace it with a strawberry or two.
Don’t know how it will taste, but we will definitely try.
Making smoothies is a great time to spend together, learning to listen to each other and compromise on what fruit you want to try.
